WATER WORLD DRILLING

DRILLING

Borehole Drilling

After the water survey has taken place, the borehole drilling can proceed at the identified spot.

Once the borehole drilling commences, communication with the client is clear and persists at all time. This way the client is updated in terms of the depth of drilling, costs involved and general geological findings.

Equipping of the borehole

Upon completion of the borehole, the pump installation can be planned.
General factors influencing the size of the pump to be installed will be the following:

  • The clients’ water demand.
  • The depth of the hole.
  • Actual water yield of the borehole

Depending on the geological formation, there should be a borehole rest period before the pump can be installed. The drilling contractor will advise the client accordingly.

Water World Drilling

1.Geological Survey

A Geological survey accesses the geographical landscape and composition of your ground and ascertains the location and depth at which the water drilling should take place.

2.Drilling Equipment Mobilization

Mobilization of the Drilling Equipment Once payment has been settled, our drilling equipment is mobilized from our operations site to the drilling site.

3.Drilling and Installation

Upon reaching the site, our rig locates the area identified by the hydrogeologist as suitable for drilling. The machine uses a bit and a hammer to penetrate the ground and rods which further push the head of the drill towards the ground.

The penetration continues until the drill reaches the required depth. The drill usually passes through a water-bearing formation as it is drilling. A casing of the borehole is usually done after the required depth is reached.

4.Testing

This stage is crucial as it conducts a chemical analysis of the water to determine is suitability for use. This is usually a 24-hour process.

5.Securing the borehole

Top Slabs are inserted and a cap is usually put on the borehole

6.Water Collection

As per the client requests, we can also put up steel/plastic tanks and a water tower along with the required piping.

1.The Geology

The geology or rock formations affect the amount of time and resources that are used on the borehole. Some terrain might be too soft and causes the borehole walls to collapse in on itself, this creates difficulty in casing and removal of the borehole equipment.

Other boreholes might contain hard rock, which takes longer to penetrate. Our drillers are well versed with all sorts of formations and employ various methodologies to overcome the type of geology. All these risks are factored into the cost of the borehole.

2.The location

The location of the Borehole from our operations site affects the costs of mobilizing the equipment to the site of the Borehole.

3.Size of the Borehole

Upon advice from a hydrogeologist who does the initial survey, we work upon a recommended depth of how deep the borehole should be. This is usually charged in meters.

4.Cost of lining and packing the Borehole.

We charge per meter to case the Borehole with Plastic or Steel casing. The lining of the borehole is essential to avoid the walls collapsing or impurities entering the water. We also insert a gravel pack along the sides of the casing to enable filtration of the water to occur.

5.Pump System

We install a submersible pump system. The type of pump that is installed is dependent upon the depth of the borehole, the flow, and pressure of the water.

6.Water Analysis

A Chemical analysis is conducted on the water to assess the contents of the water and gives an indication of the suitability for use. Some of our Boreholes have had such pure contents that the water has been bottled and sold while numerous other boreholes are used for domestic use, construction or commercial purposes. Our detailed water analysis assesses that you have the right quality and quantity of water for use.

General Borehole Drilling Facts to Take Note Of Are:

  1. The exact depth, of where the water is located, cannot be established by the drilling contractor nor the water surveyor.
  2. It is important to note that it is never a 100% guarantee that any hole will yield water, the amount and water quality can also not be guaranteed by the drilling contractor and water surveyor.
  3. Making use of a hydrologist or traditional water diviner will increase your chances of having a successful borehole that will yield a sufficient amount of water.
  4. The risk of the borehole drilling lies with the property owner. The client will still be liable for the drilling costs irrespective of a borehole yielding water or not.

A call-out fee of R750.00 including one hour of labor will be charged for maintenance and will be paid in advance before the technicians are dispatched.

THE ABOVE IS JUST AN ESTIMATE, NOT A QUOTATION.
